Why are you fundraising right now?

What will the money you raise be used for?

Since the COVID-19 crisis hit the UK, we have cancelled our seasson and have had to cancel fundraising activites. Consequently, we will have no income this year to cover the costs we have incurred in preparing for the season. We also need to cover ongoing operting costs, as well as costs arising from cancelled performances last season.

We must cover our operting costs as well as those we have already incurred in preparing for the 2020 season. In addition we must cover the losses caused by the cancellation of performances last year because of bad weather conditions.

Looking forweard we need to update to LED lighting, which will improve the audience experience, reduce energy consumption and thereby enable the installation of air conditioning, as well as improving safety.

Will some of this money be donated to the McGrigor Hall?

The fund will indirectly contribute to improving the environment at the McGrigor Hall through supporting the installation of air conditioning.

Why did the amount you are seeking change from £15k to £30k?

When we set the site up initially we set the target at £15K as we hoped we might be able to run a show in the Tent this year so would have had some revenue coming in.  Since then we have had to cancel all productions, our fundraising plans, including the sale of the book about the history of the theatre, (Frinton Summer Theatre: 80 Glorious Years). We realised we would have to raise the target in order to survive the situation.

Why do you ask for us to give through Gift Aid?

Donating through Gift Aid is a tax efficient way of giving to charity and allows the theatre to claim 25% back from the government. Furthermore, if you pay tax at the higher rate your donation also attracts tax benefits to your own tax account.
