Every season we try to keep our ticket prices below those of local theatres. We have no reserves to carry forward to the following year. During our 2019 season, we experienced severe weather conditions that caused us to cancel a number of performances in the tent and consequently, the theatre suffered a loss.

Each year before and after the season, we have ongoing costs, and preparing for the 2020 season has also brought outlays. All of which we were handling before the pandemic hit us in the UK. Now, in lockdown, we cannot run our planned fundraising activities and, we won’t have any income this year. We have even had to postpone the launch of our new book about the theatre.

Additionally, the theatre is in the process of updating the  LED lighting, which will improve the audience experience, reduce energy consumption and thereby enable the installation of air conditioning, as well as improving safety.

Your messages of support

We don’t want to be dramatic...but would you consider leaving a legacy in your will to the Theatre?

Frinton Summer Theatre is the longest running weekly repertory theatre in the UK and is a registered charity. Help us keep the tradition going – any legacies big or small are gratefully received and put to good use.

If you would like to have a conversation with us about how you can leave a legacy to the Frinton Summer Theatre or have any questions please contact us at:

Gift Aid is a scheme which allows charities to claim from HMRC, the basic rate of tax their donors have paid. Gift Aid increases the value of donations by 25%, so it means even more money goes to the causes you care about – and it won't cost you extra.

If you are making a donation via cash, cheque or bank transfer, please also complete the form HERE and return it to - This will authorise us to claim Gift Aid on your kind donation.

If you're a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim, from HMRC, the difference between the basic rate of tax claimed by the charity on your donation and the higher rate of tax you actually pay.
